Janu wanders the school after an empty tutoring session and encounters Sora and Kio in the music room. Kio is practicing the piano while Sora struggles to learn the guitar. Janu realizes that Sora is deeply distressed; she has been dealing with lack of sleep, is struggling to cope with the upcoming anniversary of her brother's passing, and has stolen the guitar from her parents' home.
Sora begs Janu not to inform her parents or the school authorities about her condition, fearing she will be treated like a prisoner. Janu ultimately agrees to keep her secret, acknowledging that he is not qualified to provide professional help but offering himself as a support pillar. Sora insists that her recent poetry was not a suicide note but a reflection of her grief.
After Sora leaves, Janu speaks to Wendy, another teacher, about his dilemma regarding a student who refuses help. Wendy shares a past experience with a struggling student, advising Janu that simply being a reliable presence for the student is often the most significant help a teacher can provide. Reassured by this perspective, Janu accepts a ride home from Wendy, resolving to continue supporting Sora as best as he can.
