Janu spends his lunch break in the staff room to avoid his students, despite his growing unease following recent events. Eruka enters, initially claiming she is admiring the room, but she eventually reveals she is there to check on Janu’s well-being, noting he has seemed troubled since leaving the dorm. She encourages him to stop hiding his emotions, referencing their shared experience with meditation, and holds his hand to comfort him.
The scene is interrupted when Dayai enters to deliver a lunch Janu left behind. She discovers Eruka holding Janu's hand and demands an explanation. Janu and Eruka improvise a cover story, claiming they were discussing whether fish have their own versions of heaven and hell, which caused Janu to become upset over his deceased fish. Although skeptical, Dayai accepts the explanation and leaves the lunch, but warns Eruka that she has been added to a mysterious list. After Dayai leaves, Eruka continues to hold Janu’s hand, and he privately acknowledges his appreciation for her concern despite his initial annoyance at being checked on.
