Janu arrives at school late, reflecting on his new, regimented morning routine dictated by Spudge. During class, he discovers that a student named K is spreading an embarrassing rumor that Janu had been sick with chronic diarrhea. Despite Janu’s attempts to steer the conversation elsewhere, the students continue to tease him about the supposed illness.
The atmosphere shifts when two students, Eruka and Nokana, return from a trip to France. Eruka adopts an exaggerated French persona, refusing to speak English and demanding Janu kiss her hand, which he refuses. As Janu officially assumes temporary teaching duties due to Mrs. Butachona’s back injury, the class dynamic fluctuates between mockery and curiosity. The scene concludes with a verbal sparring match between Eruka and Nirima, centered on Nirima’s disbelief regarding Eruka's sudden personality change and her failed attempt to use a pop-culture quote as a "present" for the class.
