Janu wanders through Jhizonyu and stops at an ice cream cart, where he engages in a frustratingly circular conversation with a rude vendor before deciding to skip the purchase. While walking, he reflects on his life in this new world and his evolving feelings for his student, Eruka. His internal musings are interrupted when D’vala, whom he views as a distorted, infatuated memory of his past love, startles him.
The encounter triggers a painful, vivid memory of the "real" Valda, causing Janu physical distress. D’vala insists on helping him, leading him to the art gallery where she is employed. Once there, they discuss the strangeness of their situation; D’vala admits she is struggling to reconcile her past memories with the "upgrade" of her current life. Janu remains guarded, struggling to accept that this version of D’vala is not his former lover. Despite his reservations, he agrees to a private tour of a restricted exhibition room. During the tour, D’vala expresses a desire to reconnect and "start again," apologizing for her past doubts regarding Janu's theories about the multiverse. The event concludes with Janu refusing to say whether he would take her "home" if given the chance, leaving the tension between his desire for the past and his reality in the present unresolved.
